Put your run in the Aftershow

Connect your run to its event and class, and it plays in that event’s Aftershow once the organizer opens it. OResults makes most connections on its own. You connect the rest by hand and fix any it got wrong.

  1. Open Activities and select Upload activity.

The My activities list with the Upload activity button: a run not connected with a Connect button, and connected runs whose event names open their Aftershow

  2. Drop the file on the box, or select the box to browse for it. If it says Only GPX and FIT files up to 50 MB are supported., export the run from your watch’s app as a GPX or FIT file.

  3. Optionally, fill in Activity name (optional). Left empty, OResults uses the name in the file, or names the run after its time of day and sport, such as Morning Trail Run.

  4. Select Upload. If it says Invalid GPX file or Invalid FIT file, export the file again from your watch’s app and upload the new copy. If it says File contains no GPS track points with timestamps, the file holds no recorded positions with times, as with a planned route or a run recorded without GPS. Upload the file of the recorded run instead.

The Connect activity dialog opens next with Activity uploaded. Now connect it to an event. Connect the run there, as described below, or select Don’t connect now. The run stays in your list, and OResults connects it on its own if it can.

OResults tries to connect every run you upload or sync on its own. It considers only events whose results or Aftershow are public. Your recording must have ended within 24 hours before or after the date and time the organizer set for the event, or before the event’s end for an event that runs over several days.

OResults tries again when the organizer publishes the event, uploads courses, a map or results, or changes the event’s date. A run uploaded before the event is public connects later without you.

When OResults does not connect a run, its row shows a Connect button and, below the run’s name, why: No matching event when no event falls in the time window. To connect it yourself:

  1. On the run’s row, select Connect.

The Connect activity dialog with suggestions under Where did you run?, grouped under their event, the best one preselected

  2. Under Where did you run?, pick the suggestion with your class and name. Each event is named once, with its suggestions under it: the class, the runner and how well your track fits in percent. The best one is preselected. Three show at first; Show 2 more (or however many there are) lists the rest. None fits? Select Choose event, class and runner yourself and continue with Choose the event, class and runner yourself.

  3. Select Connect. The dialog closes and the row shows the event name. If it says that runner is already connected to another of your activities, or to a tracker, see Runner already connected under Connect the run to an event in Troubleshooting.

A suggestion that reads No start list connects the run to the class alone. Once the organizer uploads results, OResults adds your runner entry if your split times identify it. If it does not, select the class button on the run’s row, then Choose event, class and runner yourself, and pick your name.

A connected run’s row names its event, and the event’s name opens the Aftershow at your class. Before the organizer opens the Aftershow, that page says when it opens, and a scheduled opening also ends the row’s line, such as Aftershow today 13:05. The race also appears on Events → My events (see See the races you ran). The Aftershow labels your track with your account name, not the name in the start list, unless an event organizer renames it. The dialog shows that name after On the Aftershow as.

Choose the event, class and runner yourself

Section titled “Choose the event, class and runner yourself”

The dialog opens this view on its own when OResults has no suggestion to offer.

  1. Pick the Event. An option with no number was never scored, for example because the organizer’s courses carry no control coordinates. It can still be the right one.
  2. Pick the Class. The classes that fit your track come first, with their match in percent.
  3. Pick your name under Runner. Type in Search runner or club to narrow the start list. Not in the start list? Pick Not on the start list at the bottom, and the run connects to the class alone. If it says Failed to load runners. Try picking the class again., pick the class again.
  4. Select Connect.

When the event or the class has no start list, the dialog shows The organizer hasn’t uploaded a start list for this event. or This class has no start list. in place of Runner, and the run connects to the class alone. Back, the arrow beside the dialog’s title, returns to the suggestions.

Events → My events lists every race whose results carry a registration number on your account (Add your registration number), with or without a GPS track, and every race you connected a run to. Each event appears once.

My events with three races: two with your run connected and marked by a blue bar, one of them a relay leg whose Aftershow is not open yet, and one found by registration number alone

The Results and Aftershow badges open the view at your class. The line below the name reads, for example, Morning Run · H21 · 49:44 (12) +3:12 · 6.3 km: the name of your connected run, your class, then your time, your place in your class and your gap to the winner, as in the results, then the distance of your connected run. On a relay leg, the time and place are your team’s at the end of your leg. What each badge and part of the line means is under Event list on the Results and live views page.

A race with a run of yours connected has a blue bar on the left of its row. Select the run’s name to open the Aftershow at the class your track is in. A run named the same as your entry in the start list is not repeated on the line: the bar marks it. A row without the bar has no run of yours connected. To add one, upload the run on Activities as in Upload a run and connect it to the race.

OResults never moves a connection you made by hand. To change any connection:

  1. On the run’s row, select the class button, such as H21. The Change connection dialog opens with the current connection marked Connected now.
  2. Pick another suggestion, or select Choose event, class and runner yourself and pick them as when connecting, then select Save changes.

On the Aftershow as in the same dialog shows the name your track carries in the Aftershow. If you can edit the event, select Edit to change it. Leave it blank to use the uploader’s account name.

To take the run out of the Aftershow:

  1. On the run’s row, open the actions menu (⋯) and select Disconnect…, or select Disconnect… in the Change connection dialog.
  2. In Disconnect activity?, select Disconnect. The run leaves the event’s Aftershow, stays in your list, and its row shows Connect again.

After a disconnect, OResults never connects that run on its own again. Select Connect on its row to connect it by hand.

The run’s name is your own label for it in My activities and the file name of its GPX export. Renaming it does not change the label on the Aftershow.

To rename a run:

  1. On the run’s row, open the actions menu (⋯) and select Rename….
  2. Type the new name, up to 200 characters, and select Save.

To delete a run:

  1. On the run’s row, open the actions menu (⋯) and select Delete….
  2. In Delete activity?, select Delete. The run and its GPS track are deleted for good, and a connected run leaves the event’s Aftershow.

A deleted run your watch sent to OResults comes back only if you run Import past runs over its date, where the service offers it, or upload its file again.

No matching event: no event with public results or a public Aftershow falls in the time window around your recording. If the organizer has not published the event yet, OResults tries again when they do. If the event is already public, its date and start time may be wrong. Ask the organizer to correct them, and OResults tries again when they do.

Doesn’t match a course: your track follows none of the courses of the events in the time window, or the organizer has not uploaded courses with control coordinates yet. OResults tries again when the organizer uploads courses. To connect the run now, select Connect and pick the event, class and runner yourself.

Several possible matches: two or more classes or runners fit your track equally well, as with relay legs or two classes on one course. Select Connect, pick the suggestion with your class and name, and select Connect.

Runner already connected: your split times point at a runner entry that already carries your other upload of this run, or a GPS tracker the organizer issued. That track is already in the Aftershow. If the other track is your own upload and you want this one instead, disconnect the other one as described in Change or undo a connection, then select Connect on this row.

Matching failed: OResults ran into an error while matching and retries on its own. To connect the run now, select Connect.

The event’s name opens an Aftershow that is not open yet: the organizer has not opened the Aftershow. If they scheduled it, the row’s line ends with when it opens. Organizers open it as described in Publish the Aftershow.

No matching events found for this activity yet. You can connect it later, once the event’s results or Aftershow are public.: the dialog lists only events whose results or Aftershow are public and whose date falls in the time window around your recording. Select Close and come back once the organizer has published the event. If the event is already public, its date and start time may be wrong. Ask the organizer to correct them, and OResults tries again when they do.
